Jan was born in 1974 in Husum, Schleswig-Holstein. His sporting career as a show-jumper started at the early age of 7 with various ponies. Jan had his sporting break-through at the age of 20, when he won his first 1.50 class. At the same time as he developed as a show-jumper, Jan also gained his trainer C license and studied Economics.

Jan worked as a rider at the stable of Peter Weinberg for several months, before returning to his parents’ farm where he continued to train and breed show-jumping horses for a further 6 years. Wanting to broaden his equestrian knowledge and experience further, Jan then started to ride for the stable of Uwe Nielson in Meldorf, and stayed here for 1,5 years.

Since 2005, Jan has been running his own stable in Mehlbek, a short distance north of Hamburg, where he successfully trains both horses and riders. Jan’s motto is “from calmness comes true strength”, and this is very much appreciated by both his horses and riders.
